As we continue to look at potential 2021 NFL free agent fits for the Las Vegas Raiders, we turn our attention to Morgan Fox of the Los Angeles Rams.
This is an intriguing name to keep an eye out for. I know pro personnel scouts who are currently watching film of pending free agents love what they see on Fox’s tape.
Why would Fox potentially interest the Raiders heading into free agency?
He’s young, he has produced and he likely would be relatively affordable. Those are traits the Raiders are looking for as they add to the defense.
The 26-year-old defensive end was an unsung hero of the Rams’ top-ranked defense in 2020. The Rams, who have salary-cap issues, will be hard pressed to retain Fox and there should be heavy interest in him around the NFL.
Indeed, Fox cashed in with a big 2020 season after returning to the Rams on a meager one-year deal. He had six sacks and was solid against the run as a rotational player for the Rams last season.
He would be a rotational player for the Raiders as well, but would provide a solid pass-rush burst in Las Vegas, which is badly needed.
If his market doesn’t get too high, I can see the Raiders being in the Fox chase next month.
