The talk that the Las Vegas Raiders could trade backup quarterback Marcus Mariota has been percolating for a while and now there is a report linking him to the New England Patriots.

ESPN has mentioned Mariota as a potential target of Bill Belichick as the Patriots try to figure out who their starting quarterback will be in 2021 for the second season of the post Brady-era.

There will likely be other teams interested in Mariota, who looked great in his one game he played with Raiders in 2020. The former starter of the Tennessee Titans is due $10.7 million this season and the Raiders are unlikely to keep him at that rate, so if they can flip him for a draft pick, they will likely be interested. Let’s see if the Patriots show more interest in the coming days.
