Big (Ben) NFL news broke on Tuesday afternoon as NFL Media reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers are planning to bring back quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for his 18th season.
Ben Roethlisberger will indeed be back as the #Steelers starting QB this fall. Just connected w/ the two-time Super Bowl winner’s agent, Ryan Tollner, who said this: pic.twitter.com/YnWRWwkbeM

As we always do, we will look at how that massive news can affect the Las Vegas Raiders this season.
No Mariota trade to Pittsburgh:
The Raiders are likely to trade backup quarterback Marcus Mariota to a team looking for an immediate starting quarterback. The Steelers could have been a potential fit if they parted ways with Big Ben, but now, this move very likely take the Steelers out of the Mariota mix.
Steelers could be playoff competitor:
The Steelers, who made the 2020 NFL playoffs, should be a contender and I could see Las Vegas and Pittsburgh battling for a wild card spot in the AFC.
Raiders face Steelers in 2021:
The two teams will play this season in Pittsburgh, so they Raiders will likely get one more crack at Big Ben.
Which leads us to ...
Raiders have owned Roethlisberger:
The Raiders are 5-2 lifetime against Roethlisberger and one of five teams with a winning all-time record against him.
The other teams are: the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints.
Roethlisberger also got hurt against the Raiders in 2018 in an upset Raiders’ win.
