The 24 year old receiver will not be cheap

It appears the Las Vegas Raiders are serious about adding a free agent wide receiver.

Shortly after it was reported that they are showing interest in Cincinnati Bengals’ receiver A.J. Green, the Raiders are now being linked to Pittsburgh Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.

It’s been speculated for weeks that the Raiders would be interested in signing Smith-Schuster and just after the legal tampering period began, it became a reality.

Smith-Schuster is a different player than Green at this point. He doesn’t turn 25 until November, whilst Green will turn 33 in July. Smith-Schuster has been much more productive in recent seasons and had a whopping 97 catches in 2020. He did average just 8.6 yards a catch, though.

Many scouts doubt that Smith-Schuster is a true No. 1 receiver. However, he will likely get paid like one. It would be pretty wild if the Raiders spend huge on a receiver despite having huge needs on defense and drafting Henry Ruggs III in the first round, and Bryan Edwards in the third round last year.

The New York Jets may offer a big deal to Smith-Schuster and I would be surprised if he ends up with the Raiders. But surprises happen all the time in this league.
