When the initial 2020 Las Vegas Raiders’ 53-man roster was released in September, defensive lineman Kendal Vickers was the biggest surprise name on the list.

Vickers came out of nowhere to make the team. If/when Vickers is on the 53-man roster in 2021, it will not be a surprise, however. The Raiders secured Vickers for the upcoming season by announcing a one-year contract on Tuesday.

The Raiders were not in danger of losing Vickers because he was an exclusive rights free agent. The only intrigue was whether Las Vegas wanted him back and they’ve answered that question.

It’s easy to see why. The versatile defensive lineman, who made his NFL debut in 2020 at the age of 25, played in 15 games. He ended the season with 10 tackles and two sacks.

If Vickers continues to develop this offseason, he could be an interesting rotational player in 2021.
