Earlier on Friday, we looked at the chances of the Las Vegas Raiders adding defensive tackle Linval Joseph, who reportedly is expected to be cut soon.
Add Joseph to a long and strong list of defensive tackles who are likely heading to free agency, which starts March 17.
That’s good for the Raiders because the position is probably their biggest defensive need after a pass rusher. We recently conducted a poll asking what is the Raiders’ second biggest need on defense and defensive tackle was the winner.
The Raiders will need to add, at least, one more defensive tackle, Johnathan Hankins and Maliek Collins are free agents. Hankins is a player the Raiders should try to retain
Among the big-ticket players at the position in free agency include Dalvin Tomlinson of the New York Giants and Ndamukong Suh of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They would both help the Raiders, but they may be too pricey. Plus, Tomlinson may prefer to remain as a nose tackle in a 3-4 defense.
Cleveland’s Larry Ogunjobi is a player who is getting a lot of love prior to free agency. DeQuan Jones of the Tennessee Titans could also fit the Raiders. Arby Jones of the Jacksonville Jaguars is a scouts’ favorite and he could be intriguing.

Former Raiders’ draft pick, Shelby Harris of the Denver Broncos, has developed into a fine player and he could attract a lot of attention on the open market. Veterans like Sheldon Rankins, Jurrell Casey and Kawann Short could all be interesting to the Raiders as well.
No matter who the Raiders pursue at the position, they have a chance to get better soon.
