'Medicals, medicals, medicals'

Mike Mayock cut a frustrated figure at last week's pre-draft when it came to the lack of information about players medical history.

'We normally get medical evaluations straight after the Combine, but this year, we and a lot of other teams are still scrambling about a week before the draft trying to get this information in.'

(The quote above is not correct word for word, but very nearly so)

You could feel the irration in his voice, it was clearly something really bothering him.

Now here's some conjecture, but I have to say I am being backed up by Peter Kings column this morning, when he announced his one and only mock draft. He has us taking Caleb Farley CB VTech.

There is not a player in this draft who's medical status is more important than Farley. In the last year he has had 2 back surgeries, supposedly routine, but is any back surgery routine?

The question is whether Peter King is right and that is the medical we are most waiting on. Are we taking Caleb Farley at #17?

For me there is no doubt, he is a top 5 talent in this draft, that's not the question. But when Mayock repeats the word 'medicals' 3 times, I don't believe he's talking about a mid round pick.
