NFL Media has reported that Day 2 of the draft on Friday could be a hot spot for the second wave of quarterbacks.
Perhaps the Las Vegas Raiders could benefit.
The report stated that Stanford’s Davis Mills, Texas A&M’s Kellen Mond and Florida’s Kyle Trask will be available in the second round, and that the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers may all interested in picking one of them.
The Bears, Saints and Bucs all pick after the Raiders at No. 48 in the second round, and the Vikings don’t have a pick in then at all.
So if any of those teams want to make a move for one of the three quarterbacks, the Raiders could find a willing (and desperate) trade partner at No. 48 that would allow them to grab more second-day picks.
Of course, the Raiders could always take Mills, Mond or Trask at No. 48 themselves, but that would be a surprise for sure.
In other Raiders’ links:
- Another HOF draft? Here is a really cool Raiders’ draft oddity that may be a good omen.
- Popular jerseys: Raiders’ running back Josh Jacobs and quarterback Derek Carr are among the NFL’s top 50 sellers.
- Trade back? The San Jose Mercury News thinks it may be a smart move for the Raiders.
