Silver Minings: Las Vegas is among betting favorites to land Teddy Bridgewater

What a sucker bet

When the Carolina Panthers acquired quarterback Sam Darnold from the New York Jets on Monday, there became instant speculation that 2020 Panthers’ starter Teddy Bridgewater would be traded.

And, yes, the Las Vegas Raiders are being connected to him in some form. Give me a break!

PointsBet, via Pro Football Talk, has made betting odds on Bridgewater’s next team, and the Raiders have the fourth lowest odds at 8-1.

I don’t often give betting tips, but here’s one: STAY AWAY FROM THIS.

With Marcus Mariota staying in Las Vegas as Derek Carr’s backup and with the team keeping Nathan Peterman as well, there is just no room for Bridgewater in Las Vegas.

But he’s a quarterback and quarterbacks are always connected to the Raiders. That will never change as long as Jon Gruden is the coach.

In other Raiders’ links:

  • Miller, Incognito getting ready: Raiders.com has a feature on Las Vegas offensive linemen Kolton Miler and Richie Incognito getting prepared for the upcoming season.
  • Interesting pick: In this NFL.com mock draft, the Raiders are taking Northwestern cornerback Greg Newsome. Another corner early? That would be something.
  • Shooting tragedy: Former Raiders’ defensive back Phillip Adams reportedly killed five people and then killed himself in South Carolina. Adams played for the Raiders in 2012-13. Our thoughts go out to the victims and their families during this tragic time.
