Not that it was much of a concern, but the Las Vegas Raiders have to feel good that they have their top draft pick secured and ready to start his NFL career.
The team announced on Monday afternoon that right tackle Alex Leatherwood has signed his rookie contract. The deal is for four years, but the team owns a fifth-year option that must be exercised in the spring prior to his fourth season.
The Alabama product was the No. 17 overall pick on April 29. The salary slot for Leatherwood is $14.4 million over four years with a signing bonus of $7.8 million.
Leatherwood will start at right tackle right away. He has been working out at the team facility in Henderson with the rest of the draft class.
He is the fourth of the seven-player Raiders’ draft class to sign. The others are fourth round pick, safety Tyree Gillespie, fifth round pick cornerback Nate Hobbs, and seventh round pick center Jimmy Morrissey.
The remaining unsigned Las Vegas draft picks are:
- Second round pick, safety Trevon Moehrig
- Third round pick defensive end Malcolm Koonce
- Third round pick linebacker/safety Divine Deablo
Expect the Raiders to have no problems getting these 2021 draftee signings completed.
