The Raider Nation just can’t wait to see Tre’von Moehrig make his NFL debut.
The second-round pick from TCU was a runaway winner in our recent fan poll, which asked what player will lead the Las Vegas Raiders in interceptions in 2021.
The safety — who the Raiders traded up from the No. 48 pick to No. 43 to take in the 2021 NFL draft — received 49 percent of the votes in a poll in which more than 850 votes were tallied. Eleven Las Vegas defensive backs were eligible, but no one got close to Moehrig.
The Raiders had just 10 interceptions in 2020, which was tied for the fourth fewest in the NFL. So the Raiders could really use a spark from Moehrig, who comes into the league with a reputation for being a ballhawk.
Moehrig had seven interceptions in 33 college games. His single-season high was four picks in 2019. Moehrig had two interceptions last season.
This poll shows Raiders fans expect Moehrig to come in and be an immediate difference maker for this defense. It will be fun to watch.
