The Draft Wire published an interesting 2020 NFL re-draft this week. Of note to the Las Vegas Raiders, much of the change revolved around the wide receiver position. Las Vegas, of course, started the wide receiver draft in 2020 when it took Alabama’s Henry Ruggs III at No. 12. It was expected to be a strong receiver draft and, as it tuned out, several rookies at the position excelled in 2020.
Ruggs, however, wasn’t one of the receiver standouts. He had just 26 catches and didn’t make much of an impact for the Raiders despite being the top receiver taken. In this re-draft, eight receivers went in the first round. In reality, six receivers went in the 2020 first round.
There was however, a shake up in the draft order in the re-draft.
Justin Jefferson, who went to the Minnesota Vikings at No. 22, went No. 5 to the Miami Dolphins after a spectacular rookie season. CeeDee Lamb (Dallas Cowboys, No. 17) went to the New York Jets at No. 11. Jerry Jeudy was kept at No. 15 by the Denver Broncos. Chase Claypool, who went No. 49 by the Pittsburgh Steelers, was re-drafted by the Raiders at No. 19 in the spot they took cornerback Damon Arnette.
Brandon Aiyuk, No. 25 San Francisco 49ers, went No. 20 by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Tee Higgins, No. 33 Cincinnati Bengals, went No. 21 by the Philadelphia Eagles. Laviska Shenault, No. 42 by the Jaguars, went No. 22 by the Vikings. Ruggs went No. 26 to the Green Bay Packers.
