The NFL is increasing its vigilance in policing its COVID-19 guidelines as the Delta variant surges.

ESPN reported on Thursday that the league is in the midst of visiting all 32 teams to council players, coaches and staff on the guidelines and to make sure they are being adhered to. The league caught one Buffalo Bills’ player violating guidelines on its visit to the team this week. Another Buffalo player was caught on video.

According to NFL Media, across the league more than 100 players have been warned and 25 players have been fined for refusal to wear a mask and/or a tracking device since training camp begin. Those players were all fined $14,650.

This is a strong sign that the league’s stance against the coronavirus is not going to go away and it will stress the importance of vigilance..

In other Raiders’ links:

  • 6-11? That’s the record that Sports Illustrated thinks the Raiders will finish the 2021 season with. That would ... not be good.
  • Up and down: CBS Sports is high on Raiders’ rookie safety Tre’von Moehrig, but not-so high on third-year defensive end Clelin Ferrell.
  • Jaylon Smith? CBS Sports thinks the Raiders should trade for Dallas Cowboys’ linebacker Jaylon Smith. The money might be tight, though.
  • On Branch train: Coach Jon Gruden is fired up that Raiders’ legendary wide receiver Cliff Branch is on the verge of being elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame next year.
