The injury bug continued to rear its ugly head for the Las Vegas Raiders, on Monday night vs. the Ravens, this time on defense. The Raiders’ free agent prize, defensive end Yannick Ngakoue, left the game with an apparent hamstring injury and his return is questionable.
Moments later after a big pass from Lamar Jackson to Sammy Watkins, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was on the grass and struggling to get up. The cart was brought out for the long time NFL veteran who was out all of 2020 after tearing his quad early in the year. He was immediately ruled out of the game with a knee injury, which isn’t a good sign.
The Raiders’ defensive line has provided a spark for the defense, pressuring Lamar Jackson, forcing a fumble, and helping to stall the Baltimore run game. The Raiders are now short handed on the defensive line after leaving Clelin Ferrell in street clothes as a healthy scratch.
Raider Nation hopes that McCoy’s injury isn’t too severe and Ngakoue’s hamstring injury doesn’t linger. Those veteran pieces figure to be critical to the Raiders’ success on defense this season.
