January 31

1:02 p.m.: Another Raiders’ coach is interviewing elsewhere.

10:54 a.m.: A public celebration of life will be held for the great John Madden at his former home stadium on Feb. 14.

8:04 a.m.: There is interest in the Raiders’ departing coaching staff.


January 29

1:47 p.m.: Expected Raiders’ top coaching candidate is suddenly in play in Minnesota. Wow.

1:45 p.m.: Not so fast ...

11:46 a.m.: The greatest sports career of all time is over.

10:42 a.m.: Former Raiders’ first-round draft bust Damon Arnette has thrown away another NFL chance.


January 28

3:30 p.m.: Three coaching gigs down, six to go.

8:01 a.m.: Raiders interim head coach Rich Bisaccia and defensive line coach Rod Marinelli may end up in Chicago.


January 27

9:29 a.m.: Fun Derek Carr facts. Things could get interesting after we know who the GM and coach are.

8:02 a.m.: The door may be opening for Derek Carr to play in the Pro Bowl in Las Vegas,

7:22 a.m.: Goodbye Big Ben.


January 26

1:36 p.m.: The Athletic pumps the breaks on the Josh McDaniels chatter.

12:42 p.m.: Cue the Jim Harbaugh speculation.

8:54 a.m.: Raiders’ cornerback Nate Hobbs’ blood-alcohol level was lower than the legal limit when he was arrest for DUI earlier this month and he pled guilty to a reduced charge. So, he will likely not face a league suspension for the offense.

7:52 a.m.: The Derek Carr-Davante Adams reunion chatter is starting again. This time, it surrounds Green Bay.


January 25

1:40 p.m.: Tight end Lee Smith, who played for the Raiders from 2015-18, is retiring after 11 seasons in the NFL.

10:48 a.m.: There is another head-coaching opening. Make that nine.

8:53 a.m.: Raiders’ strength and conditioning coaches A.J. Neibel and Deuce Gruden (yes, son of Jon) will coach on the East staff in the East-West Shrine game and it will be a home game for them. The game will be played February 3 at Allegiant Stadium as part of the Pro Bowl week festivities.


January 24

8:39 a.m.: The Raiders are conducting a head-coaching interview Monday.


January 21

2:58 p.m.: More vehicle issues for Raiders’ cornerback Nate Hobbs.

2:27 p.m.: Another GM candidate got his shot Friday.

8:56 a.m.: There are three GM jobs available, including in Las Vegas.

8:12 a.m.: Former Detroit coach Jim Caldwell reportedly has turned down a chance to interview with the Raiders.

7:14 a.m.: New England offensive coordinator is being speculated as a candidate for the Raiders’ coaching job.

1:48 p.m.: Raiders’ first-round pick bust Damon Arnette is back in the AFC West.

1:30 p.m.: The Raiders added to their roster.

8:28 a.m.: The Pro Bowl captains for the Feb. 6 game in Las Vegas have been announced.

8:17 a.m.: New England’s Eliot Wolf is being courted by the Chicago Bears as a general-manager candidate. He has been oft connected to the Raiders if they hire a new GM.

2:41 p.m.: There is another head-coaching opening.

11:05 a.m.: The Raiders have added to the practice squad.

8:12 a.m.: An AFC West foe is getting to work on its search for a new coach.


January 10

5:07 p.m.: The Bengals were called for one penalty for five yards and the Raiders were called for seven penalties for 77 yards in Week 11.

1:28 p.m.: Steelers fans are showing their appreciation for Raiders’ kicker Daniel Carlson sending them into the playoffs.

1:12 p.m.: An honor for John Madden.

7:23 a.m.: There are more coaching openings. if the Raiders do look for a new coach, add Brian Flores to the list.

6:37 a.m.: The Raiders’ 2022 opponents are set.


January 9

9:49 a.m.: Will the Raiders trade for a big-time coach?

9:03 a.m.: ESPN is reporting the Raiders think tight end Darren Waller will play tonight after missing the past five games. Stay tuned.

8:41 a.m.: This is stirring stuff from Alec Ingold.

7:48 a.m.: The Broncos have fired coach Vic Fangio. If the Raiders do, indeed, end up hiring Jim Harbaugh, Fangio could come with him as defensive coordinator.

January 7

2:41 p.m.: The Raiders made the Will Compton re-signing official.

11:18 a.m.: The Jim Harbaugh rumors are continuing to float.

But consider this:

8:58 a.m.: Here’s some interesting Raiders’ coaching scuttlebutt.

8:31 a.m.: There will be a public memorial for John Madden in OAKLAND in February. He died at the age of 85 last month.


January 5

11:36 a.m.: The Raiders have released linebacker Will Compton. Expect a roster addition later Wednesday.

11:04 a.m.: The previous item is being refuted locally.

7:24 a.m.: The Raiders are reportedly considering hiring Wynn Resorts CEO Matt Maddox to run the business side of the team. That would be quite the interesting hire.

7:04 a.m.: Chargers’ coach Brandon Staley says he’s not interested in getting into the playoffs via a tie with the Raiders.

And it’s a matter of trust. Can the Raiders and Chargers trust each other to pull off the arranged tie?


January 4

2:10 p.m.: This is encouraging news.

12:26 p.m.: The Athletic is reporting that Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is thinking about heading to the NFL and that the Raiders may be a great fit.

8:27 a.m.: Here are the Raiders’ official ways to get into the playoffs. Also, they would get in if they tie the Chargers and if the Colts lose to the Jaguars.


January 3

2:26 p.m.: The Raiders made some roster adjustments Monday.

1:19 p.m.: Raiders interim head coach Rich Bisaccia said the team expects star tight end Darren Waller to practice Wednesday. He hasn’t played since Nov. 25 with a knee injury. He is currently on then NFL’s COVID list. But it appears he has a real chance to play in Sunday’s massive game against the Chargers.

12:01 p.m.: Raiders wide receiver DeSean Jackson tried to honor late Raiders’ coach John Madden in Sunday’s game at the Colts. But the NFL wouldn’t allow it. Jackson wasn’t pleased and we don’t blame him.


January 2

8:34 a.m.: Run-stuffing defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins is out for a second straight week with a back injury.
