AWB'z Draft Overview & Undrafted Free Agents To Look Out For

Round 3, Pick 90: Dylan Parham OG, Memphis

Round 4, Pick 122: Zamir White, RB, Georgia

Round 4, Pick 126: Neil Farrell, DT, LSU

Round 5, Pick 144: Matthew Butler, DT, Tennessee

Round 7, Pick 238: Thayer Munford, OT, Ohio State

Round 7, Pick 250: Brittain Brown, RB, UCLA

My Take: None of my mock picks were selected for the Raiders, but my main concern was for the Raiders to attack the trenches. They added depth & competition where we needed it the most, the offensive line & defensive line. I'd give this Raiders draft a B for the value that they got at each round. Let's not forget we got D. Adams for a trade which looking back now, there were no top wideouts on the board at #22. I assume Dylan Parham will be our starting center this year putting james as a swingman around the line. Both Neil Farell & Matthew Butler bring much needed depth to an interior defensive line that had many switches last year. Both Zues White & Brittain Brown gives us assurance. Josh Jacobs, as great as I know he can be, his injuries have plagued him over the years. Mind you even at Alabama he wasn't the used as a bell cow so that could be a reason for all these injuries. Kenyan Drake, broke his ankle & his contract is expensive. These two rookies could both help provide depth & one of them could end up pushing for a starting role in the future with the concerns of Josh Jacobs & Kenyan Drake. Thayer Munford, a much needed tackle we could use or guard depending how our line will look. Brandon Parker is a backup & it's nothing against him it's just we need to have an anchor on the right side of Derek Carr. There were so many plays if Derek Carr had one more second it could have been a big play. Alex Leatherwood I believe will be our starting right tackle. He had a tough year last year, but anyone who judges a rookie on their first year especially at the hardest position in the NFL you might want to stop comparing them to the once in a generational talents. Overall I loved our draft, Zig & Josh attacked the defensive backs in free agency & attacked the holes in the trenches in the Draft. Protect Derek Carr & with all these weapons we have the Raiders will be a top 3 offense this year.

Undrafted Free Agents

*Jack Del Rio stated once, if there are a lot of undrafted free agents on the final 53, your team isn't that good

That being said I believe there will be 2 who have the best chance to break into the 53 man roster based on the depth of that position & what they bring. I will bold their names.

Strong Safety we have Roderic Teamer & Dallin Leavitt as depth, Isaiah Pola-Mao after watching his tape has better instincts then both, and can blitz very well. Just like his uncle Troy Polmalu the man is always around the ball. The question is can Isaiah Pola-Mao play special teams.

Cornerback depth is deeper & harder to make it but I believe Sam Webb can make it. He is very fluid, & watch when he tackles, it looks like he loves going after these running backs in his highlights. He doesn't shy away from tackling which is always a positive attribute to have as a defensive back. As of right now the Raiders have Amik Robertson, Cre'Von LeBlanc, Darius Phillips, Anthony Averett for depth. 3 of 4 can easily make it back to the team in my opinion The same question goes with Sam Webb, can he play special teams.
