Aidan O’Connell remains the Las Vegas Raiders’ starting quarterback .. for now.
Monday morning, Las Vegas interim head coach Antonio Pierce said in his media briefing that the coaching staff is still evaluating the team after its awful 3-0 home defeat to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and he said “we’ll see how the week goes.”
So, Pierce didn’t definitely say the fourth-round pick from Purdue will play Thursday night against the Los Angeles Chargers at Allegiant Stadium (kickoff is set for 5:15 p.m. PT). But because it’s a short week, the tema may decide to keep O’Connell in opposed to reverting back to original 2023 starter Jimmy Garoppolo.
O’Connell has been getting the bulk of the reps in practice and there isn’t much practice work for Garoppolo to get reps. But perhaps there will be a change.
Peirce had no injury updates on running back Josh Jacobs who left the Minnesota loss in the fourth quarter with a reported knee injury. Monday, they listed it as a quad injury.
The Raiders released an estimated injury report Monday. Jacobs, center Andre James (ankle). left tackle Kolton Miller (shoulder) and defensive end Maxx Crosby (knee) were listed as they did not practice.
