We’re onto the second Saturday of bowl season in College Football as several NFL Draft prospects will be on display for the Las Vegas Raiders and the rest of the league. Below is one player to watch from each contest with an eye toward the Raiders’ needs.

Note: Late opt-outs may impact who is playing this weekend.

Birmingham Bowl

Game time and channel: 9:00 a.m. PT, ABC

Troy

EDGE Javon Solomon

2023 stats: 13 games, 52 total tackles, 16 sacks, 17.5 TFL

NFL Mock Draft Database consensus big board rank: 213th overall (7th round)

Scouting report via NFL Draft Diamonds (full report):

RS Junior, Starting at Edge at ALTR playing with high intensity with great effort as he flies all around the field. Primarily used as a stand up edge, playing very wide off the tackle, giving him an advantage to use his exceptional AA to turn the corner. Plays best as a pass rusher. Very athletic build, with slim shins, thick calves, skinny knees, thick thighs, narrowed hips, and a V shaped torso and broad shoulders. Long with good muscle build to him. Exceptional AA due to good explosion, very good bend and flexibility, as well as ankle flex, and hip flex, resulting in efficient rushes. Best as a pass rusher coming off the edge due to solid explosion, good acceleration as he approaches the blocker, playing with very good strength, balance, and leverage to cause a mismatch on slower OL, as he shows good twitch as well making it tough to match his feet. Solid ability to counter blocks and use good agility to maneuver. Dangerous as a speed and power rusher due to good play speed and play strength. Good UOH as a pass rusher as he knows how to finish through the rush and come clean off blocks. Good vs the run, displaying very good competitive toughness and strength with a high motor to find a way to get his helmet in on every play. Flies all over the field with great pursuit and effort to not give up on any play. Good setting the edge as he uses good UOH with a strong punch and good leverage to stand his ground on the outside. Good tackling ability as he runs into ball carriers violently taking anyone out in his path.

Duke

OL Graham Barton

NMDD rank: 27th overall (1st round)

Scouting report via Bleacher Report (full report):

Overall, Barton is a stubborn, sticky blocker with the short-area quickness, play strength and competitive toughness to make a successful transition inside and become a solid, dependable starter right away at guard or center in a multiple run scheme. Barton’s profile and projection is very similar to Forrest Lamp coming out of Western Kentucky in terms of body type, play style and pro expectations.

EDGE Jalen Green (will not be playing due to injury)

NMDD rank: 269th (UDFA)

2023 Stats: 9 games, 50 total tackles, 15.5 sacks, 21 TFL, 1 INT

Scouting report via Canal Street Chronicles (full report):

He has violent hands that he uses to break free from opposing linemen. His rips are absolutely vicious. He’s shown a wide variety of pass-rush moves. He’s gotten sacks with spin moves, rips, and chops. Green possesses good instincts and speed coming off the edge. This allows him to be ahead of the curve when battling a bigger lineman. He uses his speed and technicality to get by defenders.

South Alabama

S Yam Banks

NMDD rank: 247th (UDFA)

2023 stats: 12 games, 44 total tackles, 1 INT, 2 PD, 4.5 TFL, 1 sack

Scouting report via The Game Haus (full report)

Yam Banks joined South Alabama in 2020 and started playing more full-time in the 2021 season. He was named First Team All-Sun Belt in 2022 and Third Team All-Sun Belt in 2023. In his career, he has registered 145 total tackles, seven interceptions and 14 passes defended. This season, he tallied 44 total tackles, one interception and two passes defended.

At 6-foot-1 and 208 pounds he has decent size for an NFL defensive back. While he showed good ball skills in 2022, he didn’t display them in 2023. His body of work for his career could be good enough to get him selected. He still has eligibility remaining, so he may elect to return to school.

Las Vegas Bowl

Northwestern

Utah

iOL Sataoa Laumea

NMDD rank: 204th (7th round)

Scouting report via NFL Draft Buzz (full report):

Has the natural power to move defenders at the point of attack. Laumea also has the agility and speed to get out in front and land blocks at the second level. He also shows a good understanding of angles when climbing to the second level.

He is a work in progress with high-end physical traits. He’s extremely light on his feet for a 300-pounder, a natural knee bender who plays with balance and leverage.

Shows good quickness and flexibility on reach blocks, and Laumea has enough range to get out as a puller.

Laumea gets off the snap quickly, and he is consistently able to generate movement at the point of attack, typically finishing those blocks strong.

Lone concern is handling the superquick NFL edge rusher. Foot speed and quickness are very good, but not elite.

Awareness is above-average for his limited experience. Sells trap block and can turn to seal. Fluid getting to and adjust at the second level.
