As the 5-7 Las Vegas Raiders return from their bye week, the next five weeks are going to be huge for rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell.
There is no sure thing if the fourth-round draft pick from Purdue will be the answer for the future for the franchise. A lot of that situation, of course, depends on who will be the next head coach of the team.
O’Connell has, predictably, been up-and-down in a season that he wasn’t expected to be playing when he was drafted. If he can lead the Raiders to a 5-0 finish and a playoff berth, it would go a long way to increasing his chances of being the starter next year. It could also boost his chances of winning the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
According to our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook, he is a huge longshot at +2000. On draft night who would have guessed he would enter December play with the same odds of No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young?
The NFL is funny, isn’t it?
