Last week, Sports Illustrated reported that Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis would love to bring back coach Jon Gruden for a third tenure as the franchise’s head coach in 2024.

Of course, Gruden, who coached the Raiders from 1998-2001 and 2018-21, was forced to resign because of an email scandal in October, 2021. Sports Illustrated stated that the NFL would probably look the other way if Gruden drops his lawsuit against it as part of his return to the Raiders’ sideline.

Gruden didn’t have great success in his second tenure as the Raiders’ coach. He went 22-31 in three-plus season and 8-8 was his best finish in a full season during the stint.

Yet, many Raiders fans are as enamored in Gruden as Davis is. I don’t doubt for a second that Davis would jump at the chance to bring Gruden back. He was not happy when he had to resign and he said it publicly.

So, could it happen? Sure.

In my opinion, I think Davis should move on and keep the Gruden days in the past. What do you think? Take our poll.

Should the Raiders hire Jon Gruden as coach again?
