Last week, former Las Vegas Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce drew interest from the Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons for their vacancies. The Titans interviewed Pierce while the Falcons requested to bring him in.

Now, the Raiders are taking their opportunity to formally speak with the coveted coach as The Athletic’s Vic Tafur reported that Pierce interviewed with the Silver and Black on Monday afternoon.

Here’s the full quote from Pierce that Tafur is referring to in the post/tweet above:

“My résumé is on the grass,” the interim head coach replied when asked about the support he’s received from current and past players for him getting the full-time position. “It’s being out there every day, that either I’m in front of you gentlemen and ladies, to the grass, to the practice field, to the meetings, to the building. I mean, I’m being evaluated each and every day. And they know what it looks like. They’ve had some really, really good coaches in their career. They know what it sounds like, looks like, if it’s real, if it’s fake, if it’s just a momentary deal. So, to have their blessings and backing is – obviously, that’s humbling.”

The Raiders were 3-5 when Pierce took over but went 5-4 with him in charge to finish the season at 8-9. He also won over the locker room as players have loudly voiced their support for him over the last few weeks and star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby went as far as suggesting he’ll ask for a trade if Pierce isn’t retained.

That certainly bodes well for Pierce’s candidacy but, of course, Las Vegas’ search will continue and the decision isn’t expected to be imminent as interviews are going to be held throughout the week.

Former Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier will meet with the club on Tuesday, and Jim Harbaugh will likely be brought in sometime soon. Harbaugh also interviewed with the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday.

Silver and Black Pride will continue to monitor the Raiders' searches for a permanent head coach and general manager, so be sure to check back for more updates along the way.

UPDATE 4:19 p.m. PT:

The Athletic’s Tashan Reed reported that the Raiders also brought in Champ Kelly for a second interview.
