It was coming down to the wire for several milestones and records by Raiders players heading into their season finale against the Chiefs. So, how'd they do? Let's see...

Derek Carr

4000-yards passing

He entered the game with 3,797 yards passing on the season. Meaning all he needed were 207 yards to reach 4000.

Did he reach it? No

He passed for 194 yards in the game to finish just short of the 4k mark. However, his final yards total of 3,987 yards is third all time for the Raiders behind Rich Gannon's 4689 (2002) and Carson Palmer's 4018 (2012).

TD passes in first two NFL seasons

Carr came into the game tied for second all-time in touchdown passes (52) with Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson. One more and he would take sole possession of the second spot behind only Dan Mario (68).

Did he reach it? Yes

Carr threw a touchdown pass late in the game to Michael Crabtree from 15 yards out to reach 53 touchdown passes over his first two seasons

Franchise single season TD passes

Carr came into the game with 31 touchdown passes on the season. He needed 3 touchdown passes to tie the franchise record (34) set by Daryle Lamonica in 1969.

Did he reach it? No

Carr's one touchdown pass gave him 32 touchdown passes this season. Still, second place is not too shabby.

Completions over first two NFL seasons

Carr needed just six completions to set the new record for most completions over the first two seasons.

Did he reach it? Yes

Carr completed 21 passes in the game to give him 698 completions over his first two seasons. He moves ahead of Andrew Luck (682) who previously held the mark.

Latavius Murray

AFC rushing title

Early in the day, Jets running back Chris Ivory ran for 89 yards to reach 1070 rushing yards and take the lead in the AFC in rushing. Latavius Murray, sitting at 1035, would need 36 yards to take it back.

Did he reach it? No

Murray had just 31 yards rushing in the game to finish the season with 1066 yards -- second in the AFC in rushing and sixth in the NFL.

Khalil Mack

Franchise single-season sack record

Khalil Mack had 15.0 sacks in the season coming in, which is one short of tying the Raiders franchise record of 16.0 sacks in a season.

Did he reach it? No

Mack didn't have a sack in the game and finishes the season with 15.0 sacks. That is third in franchise history.

NFL sack title

Coming into today, Mack's 15.0 sacks led the NFL, just ahead of JJ Watt's 14.5 sacks.

Did he reach it? No

Watt had an impressive 3.0 sacks Sunday to re-take the sack lead. That meant Mack would need 2.5 sacks to match him. He had no sacks and loses the sack title in the final week of the season.

If you watched the first quarter of this game, you would say this was going to be a long day for the Raiders. The Chiefs jumped out to a 14-0 lead, scoring with relative ease on both of their first two possessions. But after that, the Raiders decided to join the party.

A 70-yard kick return by Taiwan Jones put the Raiders in business at the Chiefs' 38-yard-line. They made it as far as the 11-yard-line before settling for a field goal.

The Raiders defense stepped up in the second quarter. After forcing a punt, the two teams exchanged interceptions. First TJ Carrie stepped in front of an Alex Smith pass to pick it off. Derek Carr gave it right back, as Ron Parker intercepted him in the end zone. But on the first play from the 20, Smith picked off Smith and went up the sideline to score easily and bring it to 14-10.

In the third quarter, the Chiefs got on the board first, blocking a punt in the end zone for a safety. Off the punt, the Chiefs started their ensuing drive near midfield. A roughing the passer penalty gave them first down at the Oakland 15-yard-line and on the next play, tight end David Harris went on a seam route and made a fantastic high point grab with Malcolm Smith in tight coverage for the touchdown and a 23-10 lead.

As for the Raiders offense, it continued to stall. They converted just one first down in the third quarter. Meanwhile Derek Carr was sacked three times. He was sacked again to begin the fourth quarter.

Late in the fourth, the Chiefs looked to have converted on a 39-yard field goal, but it was nullified by a holding penalty. On the re-try there was as botched hold and the Raiders took over with 3:15 remaining, down 13 points.

With the game still in reach, the Raiders took advantage. Two big penalties on Ron Parker for taunting and pass inerference, put the Raiders in scoring position where Derek Carr hit Michael Crabtree for a 31-yard touchdown pass.

The touchdown put the Raiders down six with just under two minutes remaining and three timeouts. The onsides kick attempt failed so they would have to stop the Chiefs offense to keep hope alive.

A pass interference gave the Raiders an automatic first down on their drive, but it wasn't enough. A sack fumble by Carr which was recovered by the Raiders put them in a hole and on fourth down, time ran out before they could get the snap off and the Chiefs won it 23-17.

The Raiders finish the season 7-9 while the Chiefs improve to 11-5 and are headed to the playoffs after winning their 10th straight game.

The Oakland Raiders kicked off to the Kansas City Chiefs to open the game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. They proceeded to methodically slash through the Raiders defense easily for an opening drive touchdown. The drive went 80 yards in just 8 plays and was capped off with a 25 yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Maclin to take an early 7-0 lead.

The Raiders managed to get into Chiefs territory but still ended up punting. Marquette King's punt was very nearly blocked but he still managed to get it inside the 20. The Chiefs took over after the punt rolled out of bounds at the Chiefs 13.

The nice punt just helped make the Chiefs drive even more excruciating as they again drove right through the Raiders for another touchdown making the score 14-0. Their drive featured an obvious holding call on a 3rd down play that went uncalled and a 4th down conversion to also help keep their drive alive until they finally scored on a 3 yard touchdown run from Spencer Ware.

Oakland needed a big response after the start to this game, and they got something right away on their kickoff return when Taiwan Jones had a career high 70 yard kick return to the Chiefs 38 yard line. Derek Carr connected with 3rd round rookie TE Clive Walford for a 19 yard gain on their first play of the drive, but that was their only first down before settling for a 29 yard field goal to make it 14-3 KC.

Both teams traded punts and then the game went wild after that. First the Chiefs first play of their next drive was a T.J. Carrie interception at the Chiefs 46, then Derek Carr threw his own interception on a deep ball in the end zone. However, the first play of the next drive for KC was another interception, this one from David Amerson that was returned for a touchdown to make the score 14-10.

On the interception return Amerson was flagged for taunting for high-stepping into the end zone. That penalty then got coupled with Sebastian Janikowski kicking the ball out of bounds so the Chiefs got to start at the Oakland 45 without even returning the kickoff. It didn't matter though because KC quickly went 3 and out and had to punt back to the Raiders.

Jeremy Ross fair caught the ball at the Raiders 9 yard line at the two minute warning for the half. The Raiders offense then took a lot of time up doing not very much with the ball, though Michael Crabtree almost had an amazing 3rd down catch to keep the drive alive. Unfortunately he didn't hold onto the ball when he hit the ground so it was incomplete and Oakland punted back to the Chiefs who proceeded to kneel out the rest of the half with the 14-10 lead.

It's the beginning of the end for the Raiders 2015 season. It's also the last time anyone will see Charles Woodson take the field as an NFL player. He and his teammates will be trying to send the Raiders into the offseason on a high note.

A win would accomplish a few things. It would give the Raiders their first non-losing season since 2011, it would eliminate any chance the Chiefs have of winning the AFC West, and it would end the Chiefs' 9-game winning streak.

Several Raiders players will be going for milestones in this one as well. Derek Carr looks to surpass 4000 yards passing. He needs just 207 yards passing to do it. Khalil Mack is one sack away from tying the Raiders franchise record set by Derrick Burgess in 2005 (16.0). Mack led the NFL in sacks coming into today, but Watt had 3.0 sacks today to re-take the lead with 17.5 sacks on the season. Mack would need to get three sacks to get the sack title back from him.

Let's get it.

This week, the Chiefs had four starters questionable to play against the Raiders. Three of those players are inactive for the game -- Justin Houston, Husain Abdullah, and Jah Reid. The fourth was Tamba Hali and he will give it a go.

There were no surprises among the Raiders inactives, with all the starters who would have been inactive having been placed on injured reserve. Nate Allen being the most recent Raiders player to be shut down with injury.

With Marcel Reece suspended for violating the league policy on Peformane Enhancing Drugs, Roy Helu Jr is active as expected. He and Jamize Olawale will split his touches at fullback.

Lately it has seemed like the Raiders have been getting to the quarterback a lot. More than I can remember happening at any point in the recent past. So, I crunched some numbers and what I found not only confirmed my suspicions but was rather surprising.

The Raiders head into week 16 against the Chiefs with Khalil Mack one sack away from tying a franchise record. He currently has 15.0 sacks, which leads the NFL. One more would tie him with Derrick Burgess (16.0 sacks in 2005) for the most in a single season in Raiders history.

"That'd be huge," Ken Norton Jr said of Mack tying or breaking the record. "Where he came from as far as this point in his career, his improvement and I think the way the guys are getting better around him are certainly making him better. As the team gets better, our individual players are getting better and I think they are all working together."

"That's a testament to what Khalil is doing and again what the guys around him are doing. He wouldn't be able to be the player he is if the guys around him weren't better. It's easy to double him and then no one else is able to get pressure, but the whole group has been really coming on. Those guys across the line from the young guys to the guys who are continuing to improve to the coach to the coverage, it's all combined. It's just not one person. It's the group of guys working together collectively, making each other better."

Right now the Raiders as a team have 37 sacks. That number alone doesn't look spectacular. Until you look closer.

Most of those 37 sacks have occurred in the second half of this season. They have 22 sacks in the past seven games. They are improving. What may be more astounding is they have been doing it with several of their top pass rushers going down.

Justin Tuck was lost to a torn pectoral muscle in week five and placed on injured reserve. Aldon Smith was suspended at midseason for a DUI arrest in the offseason.

Amazingly, it was after Smith was suspended that the Raiders pass rush took off.

Since then they have averaged over three sacks per game including Mack's 5 sack performance in the week 14 win over the Broncos.

Had the Raiders been sacking the quarterback at this rate all season, they would finish the season with over 50 sacks for the franchise's third time since sacks became an official stat in 1982. The last time a Raiders team had over 50 sacks was 1986 when their 63 sacks led the NFL.

That 1986 team had defenders the likes of Howie Long, Sean Jones, Greg Townsend, Bill Pickel, Rod Martin, Jerry Robinson, Matt Millen and a second year linebacker by the name of Reggie McKenzie.

The Raiders pass rush over their current dominant streak is, of course, led by Khalil Mack. Also contributing have been Malcolm Smith (4.0), Denico Autry (3.0), Mario Edwards Jr (2.5), Ben Heeney (2.5), and Benson Mayowa (1.0). Not exactly household names.

What is interesting is of those guys listed, only Smith is over 25 years of age (26) which means most of them haven't played their best football yet.

Outside of Mario Edwards, who is lost for the season with a neck injury, these guys will have one final game this season to stay on pace. Should they do so, they will finish the season with at least 40 sacks for just the second time since the Raiders 2002 Super Bowl season. The other season was 2010 when they posted 47 sacks.

For what it's worth, the last time the Raiders faced the Chiefs in week 13, they posted 4 sacks. Should they do it again, they would finish with 41 sacks - nearly doubling last year's season total (22). Even now, they already have their largest jump in sack numbers from one full season to the next (15) in the official sack era.

While most fantasy seasons are over, some carry over into Week 17 and so this is our look at who to watch as the Raiders take on the Chiefs in the 2015 finale.

Editor's Note: SB Nation's partner FanDuel is running a $1.2M fantasy football league on Sunday. First place wins $100,000. Join now!

If your team is still playing — that's a good thing. While some leagues have wrapped up, and most teams have been eliminated, a select few of you are still battling it out for league supremacy — and this week, that's amidst some teams resting their top players.

The bad news for Raiders fans is that this matchup didn't exactly produce a ton of firepower the first time around — with the two teams combining for just 583 total yards as Kansas City was victorious, 34-20. So many points, but so few yards? The teams combined for five turnovers — including three Derek Carr turnovers in the fourth quarter.

So, will Week 17 be any different? The Chiefs have already clinched the playoffs, while the Raiders are merely playing for pride (and a .500 record) — but before we dive in, let's recap Week 16's results.

We went two-for-three in the studs department, giving you Latavius Murray (117 total yards, 1 TD), Danny Woodhead (108 total yards, including eight catches) and Antonio Gates (2 catches, 11 yards).

For once, sleepers wasn't our strong category. We gave you Javontee Herndon (3 catches, 16 yards) and the Oakland Defense (20 points allowed, 1 sack, 1 fumble recovered, 1 safety, 343 yards allowed).

To top it all off, in a game full of snoozers (Phillip Rivers, Derek Carr, Amari Cooper, Michael Crabtree, etc.) we didn't give you any. Oh well. On to this week...

Studs

Derek Carr — This guy is a competitor, and I can almost promise that he's had this game circled on his calendar ever since his fourth-quarter meltdown four weeks ago. Carr did finish with 283 passing yards and two touchdowns, but all anyone remembers is the three picks.

Latavius Murray — Coming off one of his best performances of the season, I'll look for Murray to have another strong day in the season finale — especially with Marcel Reece out of the equation. Murray had 86 yards and a touchdown last time they faced the Chiefs, and if he gets 20 more carries, I'm looking for him to cross the century mark.

Jeremy Maclin — Maclin torched the Raiders last time out for nine catches and 95 yards, including two touchdowns. In fact, his last five games, Maclin is averaging seven receptions, 80 yards and one touchdown a game. He'll get a heavy dose of David Amerson on Sunday, but even that might not be enough to slow down the Chiefs' top weapon.

Travis Kelce — I noted him as a "Stud" last time these two teams matched up and he disappointed, but with 12 catches in his last two games, I think Kelce has a better day this time around against Oakland.

Sleepers

Clive Walford — Last time out against the Chiefs, Walford posted a career high in catches (5) and yards (53). With the season nearly over, I think the Raiders will give their youngsters every opportunity to shine this week — and Walford could be the poster child.

Raiders D — If not for all the turnovers, it would have been a great day for the Oakland defense: only 232 yards allowed, four sacks and two fumbles recovered. The second time around, Kansas City will have a better idea of how to beat the Raiders defense, but as long as Khalil Mack is prowling the edges, I like the Oakland D this week.

Snoozers

Alex Smith — Averaging only about 22-25 attempts a game over his last few outings, Smith is nothing more than a game-manager (nothing new, I know). All I'm saying is I'd ignore the two touchdowns he had last time the Raiders and Chiefs played, and rest my championship hopes elsewhere.

For their final game of the 2015 season, the Raiders head to Arrowhead to face the playoff bound Chiefs. The Chiefs have their sights set on taking the division and a win plus a Broncos loss would accomplish that. The Raiders sights are set on a far more meager goal -- to finish the season without a losing record.

Their hopes for a winning record passed them by with a week 15 loss to the Packers, but currently sitting at 7-8, a win would give the Raiders their first non-losing season since 2011.
