We have cover the Ballers and now we move onto the Busters for the Raiders week 11 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

To begin at Part one of this article, Click here

Busters

Miles Burris

It has been a rollercoaster ride for Burris this season. He was getting better and better as his rookie season went on and now it appears he has taken a step back. The Saints first drive was accomplished almost exclusively through Burris. He was blocked on a 16-yard run on the second play. Later in the drive, he gave up a 5 yard run to put them inside the ten yard line. Then the final five yards were him giving up a 4 yard catch and then leaving Jimmy Graham wide open in the end zone for a touchdown. Yeah, might wanna guard the Jimmy Graham guy. I hear he's pretty good.

Burris gave up a 7 yard catch on the Saints next touchdown drive which put them in the red zone. He gave up an 8 yard catch on their next touchdown drive. He missed a tackle on a 9 yard run on their drive for a field goal. He was out of position on a 19-yard catch on the next drive. Then he whiffed on a tackle on third and ten which gave the Saints the yards the first down to end the game.

Rod Streater

This undrafted rookie has been a great surprise overall, but he still has these games in which he just can't get it together. His first mistake came on the Raiders' first drive. They were in third and nine and Palmer went to Streater short of the sticks. He turned around and could very well have simply ran straight and pushed for the first down, but instead decided to try and dance around two closing defenders and was stopped short, forcing the Raiders to punt.

The next Raiders possession, he was to come inside from his receiver position to block the safety at the line on a run. But he was late getting there and the safety tackled Marcel Reece for a three yard loss. The Raiders couldn't convert the third and long and would punt again on the next play. Early in the second quarter, down 14-0, the Raiders were in scoring position for the first time in the game. Then on second and goal from the two yard line, Streater was called for offensive pass interference. The Raiders were then backed up to the 12 yard line. Two plays later, Palmer would be intercepted in the end zone.

In the third quarter, Streater had what was ruled a catch and fumble in the field. But lucky for him and the Raiders, the official review overturned it as no catch so it was simply a pass knocked out of his hands. It was really close though as he had secured it and taken two steps before it came out. Either way, he has got to secure that ball.

Denarius Moore

These instances in which Denarius is running the wrong route are stacking up. There was never any reason for it considering how much time he has had in this offense with Carson Palmer. Now it becoming a real concern. His first incorrect route nearly resulted in an interception. Then on the next play, Palmer was intercepted for a pick six and 14-0 deficit. This is after the previous drive had ended with a Denarius drop.

To begin the second quarter, he missed his block to give up a run stuff. Then to end the third quarter he didn't read the coverage correctly and didn't stop in the soft spot in the zone, resulting in an incompletion. The drive ended two plays later. At this point, you wonder if he will ever get it.

Khalif Barnes

Welcome back Khalif. To both the lineup and the Buster list. He is a far cry from Willie Smith, that's for sure. But if we were judging based on that performance, that would be very sad. The first mistake by Barnes came when the Raiders were in their first really good position to score. They were in first and goal at the one yard line. Then Barnes was beaten by Akeem Hicks to give up a tackle for a loss. Three plays later, the scoring chance ended with an interception.

In the third quarter, he gave up a sack for a loss of 12 yards and that series ended on the next play. Then on the first play of the fourth quarter, with the Raiders in fourth and one at the Saints 40 yard line, Barnes couldn't open a hole and gave up a run stuff for no gain and a turnover on downs. Three huge mistakes that contributed largely to this loss.

Coye Francies

Each week I wonder more and more why he is on this team. I have yet to see him make a play anywhere. As a return man, he has done nothing. Heck, he has done nothing in the return game in his career so why the Raiders thought that would change, I will never know. For instance, his career long return was 31 yards before joining the Raiders. He had a 30 yards return in this game. That's would be considered decent except he had perfect blocking on the play and should have been able to get big yardage. He saw the huge open hole and got so excited, he tripped over his own feet and fell down. Just fell down.

But what of his coverage duties? Well, that is where he made his first mistake. The Raiders had a great chance to pin the Saints at their own one yard line on their first possession. Francies was there and then missed the ball as it bounced by him into the endzone. The Saints took the ball at the 20 yard line and drove 80 yards for a touchdown.

So what of his blocking on returns? The Raiders looked to have a decent break on a punt that went out of bounds at the 29 yard line. But Francies was called for holding and they would set up at the 19 yard line instead. The Raiders special teams just can't have nice things.

Dennis Allen, Steve Hoffman

The Raiders are now sitting at 34-123 in points scored in the third quarter. That tally was at 31-109 before this game and as they had done in nearly every game this season, they were outcoached in the third quarter. The halftime adjustments are getting absurd. The opposing team always seems to make the right moves and the Raiders get even worse. What are they doing in there? It would be easier if it were attributed to one side of the ball or the other but it's an overall incompetence.

The third quarter started out when Hoffman's special teams unit yet again gave up a big return. Last week It was a 105 yard touchdown and this week it was a 75 yard return to begin the second half which led to a touchdown. That is demoralizing right out the gates. Then the Raiders have Lechler getting pressured constantly on punts like he had never had before. He had a rare shank in this game and hasn't really been playing well this season altogether. Then you add to it the odd faith in a guy like Coye Francies who missed a golden opportunity to stop a Lechler punt at the one yard line. Janikowski kept his streak of field goals of 40 yards or less alive but he grazed the left upright to do it. The special teams is in shambles and Hoffman has to be accountable for that.

The Raiders went down in flames again this week. This time to the visiting Saints. And while that was to be expected, the Raiders were supposed to be able to show some fight which they failed to show. The result was a 38-17 plastering for their third loss in a row. Here are those making the plays to try and keep them afloat and those sinking them.

Marcel Reece

For the third straight week, Marcel Reece is the Raiders' top Baller. This week he topped them all by nearly hitting 100 yards in both rushing and receiving. He had 103 yards on the ground and caught four passes for 90 yards. He picked up 25 yards on the first two plays from scrimmage before a penalty helped stall the Raiders first drive. Late in the first quarter, the Raiders went on their longest drive in which he had a 14 yard run and a 20 yard catch. The drive spanned 74 yards and Reece alone had 45 yards. And interception in the end zone killed the Raiders' chance of scoring. The next drive didn't end in disappointment, however. The big play on that drive was a Reece catch and run of 56 yards. They finished it off with a touchdown this time.

If Reece had had ten more yards receiving, he would have been the first Raider to go over 100 yards rushing and receiving in the same since Marcus Allen did it in 1986. As it stands, Reece's 193 yards from scrimmage was the most since Michael Bush had 242 yards from scrimmage back in 2010.

Brandon Myers

The third year tight end caught the first touchdown of his career two weeks ago. He had two in that game. And in this game, he added another to make it three touchdown catches in three games. He might have had more but he let one bounce off his hands in the end zone for an interception. But even with that blunder, he still had an overall good game. His has six catches, which led the team, for 55 yards and the one touchdown. His longest catch of the day came on the Raiders' final drive in which he broke a tackle and ran for 27 yards. It set up the Raiders final touchdown of the day.

Mike Mitchell

In the first start at strong safety of his career, he gave the coaches something to think about. He led the team with ten tackles and as well as solo tackles (6). He had one big mistake in this game. After the Saints began the third quarter with a 75 yard kick return, Mitchell took a bad angle and Mark Ingram ran for a 25-yard touchdown. It was a mistake he doesn't take lightly. The Raiders would drive for a field goal and on the ensuing kickoff, Mitchell was right there to stop the return man in his tracks at the 15 yard line. Then on the possession, with the Saints in third and one, he stuffed the runner for no gain to force a punt. He then had two tackles on each of the next two drives and the drive after that, he stuffed a run on second and one and the series ended on the next play.

I don't see Mitchell as unseating Tyvon Branch anytime soon. But this kind of performance could have the coaches looking for ways to get him on the field more often. And the passion Mitchell shows in the locker room is such that every player should have. He was literally tearing up when talking about how badly he wants to win and how much devotion he has for the Raiders for their faith in him.

Honorable Mention

Darrius Heyward-Bey

This whole "Honorable Mention" thing is getting to be old hat for DHB. He has landed here a few times this season. And of course, that was the theme of Cris Carter's infamous rant about him when he was drafted at number seven overall (DHB was Honorable Mention All ACC in college). In this game, he finished with four catches on five targets for 69 yards. Forty of those yards came on the Raiders final drive in garbage time to help them score a final touchdown.

There is an unspeakable word that has been cropping up of late. It is a bad word that suggests this team would not have hoped for immediate success.

This team has a number of excuses that could be made for their struggles. The salary cap troubles and the front office and coaching staff overhaul chief among them. But that doesn't mean this season was to be written off from the start. That would mean the Raiders are in rebuilding mode. And you don't say that around these parts. Even if the reality of that situation is upon us.

"I'm not into rebuilding years," said Dennis Allen. " What we've got to do is we've got to continue to develop. We've got to cfontinue to go to work and keep trying to get better every day. That's all I know how to do."

But the truth is, this team is not getting better every day. It appears to be getting worse. Or at least it has gotten as bad as it can get and has leveled off. That still doesn't mean the idea of rebuilding is one that anyone in the organization is comfortable with. Least of whom is the owner.

"Rebuilding? Not as much," said Mark Davis. "I don't know what the word would be. I know that we didn't have the talent, at the beginning of the year, to be a Super Bowl team. I thought that we had definitely potential to get maybe in the playoffs and beat in our division. Obviously that hasn't happened."

"But as far as [giving the coaches] a pass, I wouldn't call it a pass. They've got contracts, they're gonna be here."

The players are certainly not ready to surrender to the rebuilding phase. They feel like there is enough talent on this team to turn things around.

"You look at our schedule, which guys have, and we've talked about it," said Palmer. "Right now we're shooting for 9-7. You've got to win all the games left and see kind of where the chips fall at the end of the year. The AFC is still pretty wide open for the most part. We need some things to bounce our way, but we believe if we look at the schedule, we know some of those teams we've already played, but we're going to come in and try to work and try to find a way to get to 9-7 and see what happens."

Some players, such as Marcel Reece, who had a tremendous day with 193 yards from scrimmage, get pretty heated when that word comes up.

"Rebuild?" said Reece. "There's no such thing as a rebuild year, this is a business. If you rebuild it you get out. We're going out there trying to win. We're shooting to win out the rest of the season, that's the bottom line to it."

Mathematically the Raiders are still in it. But they would pretty much have to win out the season to sneak into the playoffs. Right now, the word rebuilding is being treated like the word playoffs was treated by Colts former head coach Jim Mora in his famous press conference so many years ago.

One more loss could accelerate the rebuilding talk and silence any talk of winning out and making a playoff push. Although, for most of us, that shift in speak has already occurred. Even if the Raiders don't want to hear it.

Jon Gruden sporting an Oakland Raiders visor during pregame Sunday at O.co Coliseum in a game against the Saints | Thearon W. Henderson

The Raiders have not had a good season by any stretch. And compounding the issue is the fact that they were 8-8 just last season. And today a Raiders icon of the past was in the house as a reminder of what the Raiders once were.

The last "great" Raider coach, Jon Gruden was here Sunday. It was his third trip to O.co this season. The last time was the opener when the Raiders played on Monday Night Football. He was greeted as a local hero back then. And that was before the Raiders had embarked on a 3-7 season.

It may seem odd that he was here being that this was not Monday Night Football. But his presence was not without good reason. He was in town anyway as the Monday Night Football crew is in San Francisco this week. So while he was here, he was tabbed to light "The Fire the Burns Brightest" torch at pregame in honor of Raiders late owner, Al Davis.

Prior to the torch lighting, he took the field to greet the Black Hole just as he had done when he was the head coach and just as he did in the opener. The sentiment was a steady stream of "Come back home" and variations of that. It is clear the fans love for him has only grown stronger as the team continues to struggle.

After his handshaking, picture taking, and autograph signing (and general ego boost session) was over, he made a bee line to the Raider sideline where Mark Davis was standing. The two of them talked for quite a while. They were soon joined by Willie Brown and then later Reggie McKenzie and others.

Gruden visited Raiders training camp in Napa this offseason for the first time in ten years when the Raiders opened the preseason on Monday Night Football. He made his way around speaking to Mark, Reggie, Willie, and Dennis Allen that day.

It is safe to say Gruden's presence around the Raiders this season is more than he has had since he wore the shield on his visor on the Raiders sideline.

This alone would not be cause for speculation. But lately questions have arisen about whether Gruden has interest in returning to coaching. And with the Raiders struggling, combined with the fan and organizational respect for him, it just makes you wonder: Could he come back?

That question came up a lot during the Raiders coaching search last offseason but I never asked it. In fact, I was quick to shoot down the idea because Gruden had said that he was not leaving television. Now, he has apparently been getting the coaching itch and it opens that door once again.

The Raiders are not the same organization without Al Davis. Which is to say the coach is not on an automatic hotseat every season. But that doesn't mean it isn't still possible if the team were unhappy with the current coaching situation that they would not make a change as any team would. And along with the passing of Al Davis passed away the apparent bad blood between the Raiders and Gruden.

Those bygone feelings are what had Gruden as a guest at training camp and lighting the torch on Sunday.

"Maybe some people thought there were unresolved feelings, but very close to my mom and myself," said Mark Davis. "And part of the Raider family. And once a Raider, always a Raider. I've had trouble with my dad at times. [laughs] Once or twice. But it's fantastic. These people are all part of our family, and love ‘em. It's a good thing."

Mark is not his dad. He would be the first to tell you. But the passion for the Raiders still runs through his veins and his disappointment in this year's team is great.

"I can just feel how [the fans] feel, because I feel the same way," said Davis. "I'm a fan. And I take responsibility for it, gonna get it right."

"I'm patient. I'm patient. But I want to see progress. I don't want to see regression. Nobody does. And that's why I'm unhappy today."

Regression is exactly what has happened this season with these Raiders. They lost a few players due to salary cap reasons but the core of the team is still intact. This leads to the change in coaches as the primary reason for the team's current problems. That could be simply the change in scheme does not fit the players. Or it could be something that is deemed a coaching problem.

The answer will certainly be discovered by season's end-- if not already. The honeymoon is over for the Raiders and Dennis Allen. The old flame is hanging around and the mutual feelings between them are heating up. It's enough to make Allen feel pretty insecure. If the Raiders find their feelings for Allen have gone cold, just a word by Gruden may be all it takes.

It was Salute to Service week in Oakland today and they watched as the Saints marched all over them on their home field.

After all the festivities were over to honor our military service personnel, the Saints fireworks began. The Saints drove 80 yards down the field on their first drive to score a touchdown. It couldn't have been much easier than it was either. They didn't face a single third down on the drive and finished it off with a wide open touchdown by All Pro tight end Jimmy Graham.

The Raiders could do nothing on three drive attempts with the third ending on a Carson Palmer interception returned for a touchdown.

The Raiders were able to get on the board in the second quarter thanks in large part to a 56-yard catch and run by Marcel Reece to set up a one yard touchdown catch by Brandon Myers to pull within a touchdown, 14-7.

That didn't last long, however, as the Saints took the ensuing possession and drove for another touchdown on a 38 yard touchdown from Drew Brees to Lance Moore. The 21-7 score was taken into the half.

The third quarter, as it has all season, was greeted with the Raiders surrendering a touchdown. This time it happened in 17 seconds. A 75-yard kick return and one play-a 25-yard run-and the Saints added to their lead 28-7. The Saints would add one more touchdown in the third quarter and the game was pretty much over before the fourth quarter began.

Those two touchdowns add to the already embarrassing statistic of the Raiders being outscored in the third quarter this season 123 to 34.

"The change in momentum in the game really occurred in the first half when they were able to get the touchdown on the double move," Said Dennis Allen. "Then they came back out in the second half and opened up with a big kickoff return and scored on the first play. That was really the biggest difference in the game."

The only bright spot for the Raiders was Marcel Reece who was essentially their entire offense. He had 193 yards from scrimmage on 103 yards rushing and 90 yards receiving. He averaged 5.4 yards per carry and 8.3 yards per touch.

Carson Palmer threw for over 300 yards again (312) with two touchdowns, but he also threw two interceptions with the one returned for a touchdown.

"We had our opportunities," said Palmer. "we had our chances and you know, great teams finish and great teams, when you have your opportunities like we've had in a number of games this year, you capitalize on those, and we haven't done a good enough job of that, and that's something that, the way you fix that is to continue to work, continue to grind. This team does not turn it down, this team does not shy away from competition. What this team does is continue to work, and we've got to work, offensively, defensively and special teams wise and find ways to get better. I believe this team will."

Drew Brees had just 219 yards passing but he threw for 3 touchdowns with just 7 incompletions for a QB rating of 134.6.

The Saints three-headed monster of Mark Ingram, Chris Ivory, and Pierre Thomas had a combined 134 yards rushing on 25 carries.

The Raiders have now given up 135 points in the last three games.

The Raiders fall to 3-7 on the season. They have the Bengals next week. The hardest part of their schedule is over but with the way they played against the terrible Saints defense leaves little confidence in how they will perform against any team the remainder of the season.

Down 14-zip 12:30 into the 2nd Qtr with Oakland on the Saints' 2+yd line, Dennis Allen (who made a shrewd and successful challenge to a Brees deep "completion"), in Chip Kelly fashion, said, "Go for it" and Palmer forged ahead on a keeper and first down. Then, on 3rd down, after Reece was repelled,, Carson threw a perfect pass to Brandon Myers in the endzone... but Myers flubbed the ball which deflected to N.O. Palmer's earlier interception, again targeting #83, was on Palmer (though one wonders what might have happened if Myers moved towards the ball instead waiting passively).

Then the D held (again) and Marcel Reece caught Palmer's pass running another 35 yards for a 56 yard gain. A penalty for defensive jiu-jitsu perped on Denarius Moore took the ball inside the 5 where Palmer ran a play action bootleg and - a man of faith - gave Myers his chance for redemption - TD RAIDERS! 7 - 14 with 4 minutes left in the 2nd Half.

Oakland's Defense, which looked like hell in the 1st Qtr, stabilized in the 2nd. Standing up to N.O.s modest rushing attack but still unable to handle N.O.'s passing prowess. The Raider D (like Myers) offered propitious sacrifices - in the form of better tackling and pass rushing but still left receivers wide open.

Michael Huff gave up a bomb from Brees to Lance Moore with under a minute left in the half and 3rd and long. It was truly horrible. Earlier, Huff defended another Brees long ball that had TD written on it - but Huff spiked it harmlessly to the sodden turf. Mike Mitchell, who started for an injured Branch, covered well and more significantly, was invaluable in run support as N.O. moved with ease through the Raider line and into the 2nd row only to be slammed (and verbally abused) by The Missile.

The pass rush is improving with Desmond Bryant and LaMarr Houston savaging Brees but not able to overcome the Raiders' failures to hang with Saint receivers.

The Raiders have the worst 3rd Quarters in the league and there is reason to dread the next 15 minutes of play....

The Raiders have taken the field and are ready to face off against the New Orleans Saints. Keep it here to chat during the game.

It's Veteran's appreciation day at O.co. Eddie Money performed live before the game in Raiderville and sang the national anthem to start the game. Members of every service are on the field to show their colors and unfurl a giant flag with parachuters and a flyby.

Despite the weather report calling for an 80% chance of rain, it is a beautiful sunny day here in Oakland. That means any chance the Saints aerial attack will be in full effect. Drew Brees is looking forward to facing this Raiders defense which was torched by the Ravens last week and gave up 55 points.

The Raiders are hoping to get their offense going against this porous Saints defense. Carson Palmer will be looking to have another big game against the Saints worst ranked pass defense. He will need to have a big day if the Raiders hope to keep up with the Saints offense.

Marcel Reece gets the start again at running back. The Raiders will need the offensive line to open up some good holes so he can offer some help in the run game.

Helping things along the offensive line is the return of Khalif Barnes at right tackle. Starting in place of the injured Tyvon Branch will be Mike Mitchell. It stops Tyvon Branch's streak of 57 straight starts and marks Mitchell's first start at free safety since the Raiders drafted him in the second round in 2009.

Inactives

Raiders: QB Terrelle Pryor, RB Darren McFadden, RB Mike Goodson, S Tyvon Branch, OL Lucan Nix, DT Richard Seymour.

Saints: WR Greg Camarillo, CB Corey White RB Darren Sproles, LB Scott Shanle, OT Zach Strief, DT Tyrunn Walker, DE Junior Galette
