For the third time this season, Derek Carr put in a banner day for the Raiders. Facing one of the toughest defenses in the NFL, Carr had his way. The Raiders put up 34 points on the Jets and built an early lead, and ultimately winning by two touchdowns.

Carr's final line was 23 for 36 (62%) for 333 yards and 4 touchdowns. That matches his career high for touchdown passes in a game - a number he reached just one time before in a tough loss to the Chargers early last season.

He has now thrown for over 300 yards three times this season after reaching that number just once as a rookie last season.

All of this and he didn't turn the ball over once which gave him a stellar passer rating of 130.9. It's the second game in a row he has surpassed a 130 passer rating, and just the third time in his career. He had a passer rating of 140.2 last season in a week 14 win over the 49ers.

Here are a few other superlatives from Sunday's win

Oakland has scored at least 30 points in a game three times in a season for the first time since 2010.

The Raiders offense boasted a 300-yard passer (Derek Carr, 333), a 100-yard rusher (Latavius Murray, 113) and a 100-yard receiver (Crabtree, 102) in the same game for the second time this season.

Murray Eclipses 100-Yard Mark

RB Latavius Murray eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the second time this season (Sept. 27 at Cle.), finishing with 20 carries for 113 yards (5.7 avg.).

Murray's average of 5.7 yards per rush is the highest of his career (min. five attempts).

Murray's first carry of the game was a 26-yard scamper to the right side, giving him a new career high for rushing yards in a season (previous high: 424 in 2014).

After going without a single 100-yard performance in 2014, Crabtree now has two this season after his 102-yard performance against the Jets. He had a 111-yard outing week two against the Ravens.

Crabtree's 36-yard touchdown catch was his third of the season. He had totaled four touchdowns all last season.

Marcel Reece, Amari Cooper, Michael Crabtree, and Andre Holmes each have three receiving touchdowns. It's the first time since 2002 (Charlie Garner, Jerry Porter and Jerry Rice), three Raiders have at least three receiving touchdowns through the team's first seven games.

RB Taiwan Jones scored his first career touchdown on a 59-yard catch-and-run, putting the Raiders ahead 28-6 in the third quarter. The 59-yard reception was also the longest offensive gain of his career, rushing or receiving (previous long: 52-yard reception).

Rookie WR Amari Cooper recorded his fifth five-reception game, giving him 38 receptions on the season. He passes Marcus Allen (1982) for the most five-catch games (five) by a Raiders rookie.

Charles Woodson recorded his 65th career interception, tying him with Ken Riley for fifth place on the all-time list.

Woodson's interception moves him into sole possession of second place for the most interceptions since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. He trails only Raiders assistant defensive backs coach Rod Woodson (71).

Woodson's five INTs on the season are tied for his most as a Raider with his rookie campaign in 1998.

Woodson's five INTs this year are tied for the most in the NFL.

Khalil Mack added his fourth sack of the season, equaling his entire total for his rookie season.

K Sebastian Janikowski attempted two field goals of 50-or-more yards in the game, connecting on his second attempt from 52 yards out to mark his 50th career field goal from 50-or-more yards.

It's hard to believe a running back who has played in 45 games over 5 NFL seasons would have never scored a touchdown before. Such was the case for Taiwan Jones coming into the Raiders' week 7 match-up with the New York Jets.

To be fair, this former fourth round running back had spent the 2013 season as a cornerback and missed all but one game last season due to injury.

This season when the old coaching staff was ousted and the new one came in, they decided having Jones at reserve cornerback and gunner was wasting a lot of game breaking talents. So, they switched him back to running back and gave him back the return duties he had lost a couple years ago due to ball security concerns.

In a week three win over the Browns, after carrying the ball two times for 16 yards (8.0 yards per carry) Jones went out injured. The following week, they missed his part of the offense, and even once appeared to try and run a pitch play with Latavius Murray which was designed with Taiwan in mind and the play had disastrous results. Murray fumbled the pitch and the Bears recovered. It contributed to a tough loss by the Raiders.

He returned last week against the Chargers and immediately made the coaches look pretty smart to use his 4.28 speed on offense. In that game, Jones carried the ball 3 times for 35 yards (11.67 yards per carry) and added a couple catches for 17 yards and a kick return for 32 yards.

This week, Taiwan did most of his damage on one play. It was a short pass at the line which he broke at least three tackles, stopped and started, and juked, and ultimately sprinted for a 59-yard touchdown.

You can see that touchdown catch and run here.

"Once I caught that ball, I turned around. I think it was the linebacker coming inside. Part of me thought to cut it back, but I was lie, ‘You know what, I'm going to go.' Once I hit that gear, I was gone. Like I said, instincts kicked in and I was like, ‘I'm going to make a cut back.' I felt good after that."

His quarterback went through the same range of emotion I think most people went through when Taiwan initially caught the short pass.

"I was like ‘OK, they played it well. Get the completion. Oh... Oh... Oh!' And after that as soon as I saw no one bounce back there, there's no one catching him."

It was the first career touchdown for the East Bay native. It was also the longest catch of his career. He also added a 41-yard kick return which was his longest of the season.

After the game, Jack Del Rio said just what it was that had the Raiders' offensive staff making sure to get the ball in Taiwan Jones' hands.

"Explosive speed." Del Rio said. "He's a talented young man. I believe it was Eastern Washington that he came out of. He did some unbelievable things there with the ball in his hands. Really wanted to have our offense, we're looking for explosive play makers, he is one. Jumped at the opportunity. Told him early ‘Hey, we're going to move you and we believe you can really be an asset for us. We're not just moving you to find a spot, we're moving you because we think you can really contribute.' And he's done a great job. I think as time has gone on, he's become more of a believer that we really do believe in him. As a football team, that's the number one thing for us, is just to believe. The work that we're putting in gives us a chance to play really good football. We're seeing some of that. Some of the fruits of the work of the effort that goes in. . . his confidence is growing, he has amazing talent and we're going to continue to utilize him."

I asked Taiwan what it means to him when his coach says that he is becoming a believer.

"I think what it means is everybody is starting to see what I can do. If there's one thing, I've always believed in this team year in and year out. I've been telling everybody, I want to be part of this turnaround with Del Rio. You're starting to see this team turning around. I've always been a believer. It's just my job to show everybody else that on Sunday."

"I tip my hat to this coaching staff. They put a lot of trust in me. They see what Al Davis saw. It's just my job to show the fans what Al Davis saw in me."

While Taiwan is making the current staff look like geniuses, he is proving yet again just how lost the previous staff was with regard to utilizing the talent on their roster. At least they had to sense to keep him around and use his speed for something. It just happened to be as a gunner trying to stop players from making explosive plays instead of more appropriately being given the ball and the opportunity to make explosive plays of his own.

It was not the ideal start for the Raiders with the Jets going on a scoring drive to open the day. Along the way, they converted three straight third downs, but they needed four of them. On third and one, the Raiders stuffed the middle for a tackle for a loss of one and the Jets got on the board first with a field goal.

Also on that first drive, Ryan Fitzpatrick escaped pressure to scramble for a first down, but he injured his hand on the play and came out of the game in favor of Geno Smith. And from there on out, things went just as the Raiders had hoped.

In response to the Jets game opening field goal, the Raiders answered with a touchdown. They were livin' right on that drive. After picking up a third down thanks to the Jets jumping offsides, Carr threw for Michael Crabtree only to have it go through his hands and into the hands of Amari Cooper for a 12-yard pickup.

A few plays later, Latavius Murray went out right on a stretch play, broke a tackle and went for 26 yards. A six yard run put the Raiders sin first and goal. Then a quick throw from Carr went to Andre Holmes on the fade route in the right corner of the endzone for the touchdown to give the Raiders a 7-3 first quarter lead.

The Raiders onslaught would continue as they would go on another touchdown drive to go up 14-3. And then do it again, this time with a long bomb up to right sideline from Derek Carr to Andre Holmes for a 49-yard touchdown.

With a commanding 21-3 lead, Geno Smith tried to pick up some big yards on first down. He threw the ball up the left sideline and Charles Woodson swooped over to pick off the pass. It was Woodson's fifth of the season which leads the league. It also moved Woodson into the top five all time in interceptions.

The Raiders were unable to take advantage of the turnover with Sebastian Janikowski missing a 52-yard field goal attempt.

The Jets got the ball at their own 42-yard-line with just over two minutes left in the second quarter. They got things going on that drive, making it to the 20-yard-line, but could get no farther. They settled for another field goal to make it a 21-6 game.

Just as they did last week, the Raiders came out firing to start the second half. They drove for a score on the second half opening drive, highlighted by a spectacular 59-yard catch and run by Taiwan Jones. The play saw him catch the short pass in the right flat and break three tackles on his way to pay dirt. It gave the Raiders a 28-6 lead at the same point in the game they had a 37-6 lead against the Chargers.

There was on quit in the Jets, however. They responded with a drive of their own, highlighted by a 28-yard catch by Brandon Marshall and the Jets finished it off for the their first touchdown of the game to cut the lead to 28-13.

On the ensuing drive, Latavius Murray broke off a 25-yard run which put him over 100 yards (103) on the day. This set Sebastian Janikowski for a chance at another 52-yard field goal and this time he made it to extend the Raiders lead at 31-13. Another drive stopped by the Raiders defense led to another drive for a field goal by Janikowski to further extend the Raiders lead to 34-13 early in the fourth quarter.

As happened several times in this game, the Jets responded with a scoring drive of their own. A pass interference call by Neiko Thorpe in the end zone set the Jets up with first and goal at the one. It took three plays, but on third down Geno Smith rolled right and found tight end Kellen Davis for the touchdown.

The Raiders would take the ball at their own 20-yard-line with a two-score lead and 8:37 on the clock. A dropped pass from Andre Holmes would bring Marquette King on to punt for the first time in the game with 7:44 left in the fourth quarter.

This time the Jets couldn't respond. They ended up having to go for it on 4th and 3 and the Raiders got pressure to force an incompletion from Smith. It was a huge turnover on downs for the Raiders with just over five minutes left in the game, up two scores.

What the Raiders needed was to take time off the clock, and they didn't do that, twice putting the ball in the air and two stopping the clock. Another big defensive stop and the Jets were three-and-out and punting.

Three-and-out possessions were what we saw from the Raiders on each of their final three possessions prior to their kneel down series. But the Raiders defense was giving up nothing. Soon Geno Smith was knocked out of the game, bringing an injured Ryan Fitzpatrick back for a couple plays. Smith came back in, the Raiders defense held again, finishing on a Neiko Thorpe pass defended on fourth and 10.

Raiders win 34-20 to improve to 4-3 on the season, while dropping the Jets to the same record.

Days after Charles Woodson was named AFC Defensive Player of the Month, he continues to show he is closer to Defensive Player of the century. Coming into the game, he was sitting tied for 6th all time in interceptions. He got there by intercepting Peyton Manning twice in their game in Oakland three weeks ago. He returned to Oakland for the first time since that game and added another interception.

With the Raiders leading 21-3 in the second quarter, Jets quarterback Geno Smith -- who was in the game because starter Ryan Fitzpatrick injured his hand on the Jets' first drive -- went for a big strike up the left sideline. Woodson saw it coming and he swooped over the pick it off just like his second interception of Peyton Manning.

That interception gave Charles Woodson a league leading 5 interceptions on the season and moved him squarely into the top five all time in interceptions (65). Here is the all time list:

1. Paul Krause+ 81 1964-1979 2TM
2. Emlen Tunnell+ 79 1948-1961 2TM
3. Rod Woodson+ 71 1987-2003 4TM
4. Night Train Lane+ 68 1952-1965 3TM
5.
As you can see, every player on the list ahead of Woodson is in the Hall of Fame, where we know Woodson is headed five years after whenever he decides to retire.

The Raiders are back in Oakland after a by week and a dip down to visit their SoCal fans in San Diego. These Jets are no Chargers. They are closer to the Broncos as they are led by their defense. In fact, the Broncos and Jets are one and two in the NFL in defense and the Jets have the NFL's top run defense.

On the other hand, the offense will be without All Pro starting center Nick Mangold. See the entire list of inactives here. We'll see if that plays a major factor in the game. Their offense gets running back Stevan Ridley back from PUP to team up with Chris Ivory.

After missing practice all week with a neck injury, Jets All Pro center Nick Mangold was officially doubtful. He made the trip for the game and is now officially inactive.

Here are the inactive list for both teams:

Walt Powell was signed a couple weeks ago as a return man. He has been inactive both weeks. Curtis Lofton gets the start with Neiron Ball out.

Coming in at 3-3 on the season, the Raiders look to ensure at least a .500 record at midseason. To do that they will face the Jets who sit at 4-2 and are looking to make a playoff push.

Statistically, the Jets have the second best overall defense I the league. The Raiders faced the best defense in the league three weeks ago when the Broncos came to Oakland. The Raiders fell 17-10 in that game. As strong as the Jets pass defense is with the likes of Darrelle Revis back there, their run defense is even better. It is the best in the league.

What might surprise you in the Raiders currently have the third best run defense in the NFL, giving up just over 84 yards per game. Though their pass defense is quite suspect so most teams go to the air for their yards and points.

Can Clive Walford keep it going?

In week 5 against the Broncos, tight end Clive Walford had a 33-yard catch. Then last week the rookie third round pick had two catches for 42 yards and a touchdown. Raiders coaches along with Derek Carr said this week the Walford has earned their trust and he figures to see more targets and catches as the season goes along. That two-catch performance was a breakout because not only was it his first TD as a pro, but he eclipsed his receiving yards total from the firsts five games combined. It was also the first and second time Derek Carr was looking for him from the snap and connected with him for big gains. It appears he is finally becoming the top tight end target this team needs him to be. Look for him to be a factor in this game.

DJ Hayden vs Brandon Marshall

Last week DJ Hayden had his first interception of the season and the second of his career. He was also targeted 12 times and was charged with giving up 10 catches. He will have one of his tougher assignments this week taking on Brandon Marshall. Even with the 10 catches Hayden gave up, he limited many of those to short gains by keeping the receiver in front of him. For that reason, it was considered somewhat of an improvement for Hayden, who has been beaten on several occasions this season for long catches. It's a tough task for Hayden to see if he can continue to take positive steps. This will be an interesting match-up.

Amari Cooper vs Darrelle Revis

No match-up in the game is more exciting than this one. The rookie phenom Cooper who is coming off winning Rookie of the Week, heads to Revis Island. It's the kind of match-up that you long for as a football fan. Cooper has played well against some of the better corners in the game already such as Patrick Peterson, Pacman Jones, Joe Haden, and Aqib Talib. Now he faces the best. Welcome to the NFL, Rookie.

Jets without key starters

Ruled OUT for the Jets this Sunday with an ankle injury will be starting safety Calvin Pryor. He went down with an ankle injury last week against the Patriots. He will be replaced in the lineup by Dion Bailey who Ken Norton Jr knows pretty well. Bailey went to USC and was signed as an undrafted free agent last year by the Seahawks. He made the Seahawks roster out of camp but was released after two games and signed by the Jets. Now he looks to start on Sunday against the Raiders.

Officially doubtful for the game is starting center Nick Mangold. He will be replaced by either Dakota Dozier or Wesley Johnson - either of whom will be a downgrade as a blocker and especially in calling out the defense, which is a primary job of the center. Mangold is a 6-time Pro Bowler and two-time All Pro. Neither of the two options as his replacement have ever started a game at the NFL level and have appeared in a total of 8 games between them.

Raiders OL vs Jets DL

The numbers show the Raiders have had one of the better offensive lines in the league this season. And they will be going up against probably the absolute best defensive line. The combination of Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson, and Leonard Williams is stout. They will give the Raiders all they can handle giving Derek Carr time to throw as well as Latavius Murray lanes to run through. It is definitely the Raiders offensive line's toughest task yet this season.

Saturday, the Raiders did some roster shuffling (All Hallows) eve of their game against the Jets Sunday. Just days after the Raiders signed linebacker Korey Toomer to their practice squad, he has been signed to the active roster. In a corresponding move, they have waived Shelby Harris who was himself signed to the active roster from the practice squad a week ago.

The 6-2, 235-pounder was added the day after the team learned they would be without rookie linebacker Neiron Ball for what looks to be about a month with a knee injury. Harris was brought up for the game last week against the Chargers due to the team being without defensive linemen Justin Ellis and Denico Autry -- both of whom return this week.

Raiders defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr is very familiar with Toomer as Norton was LB coach in Seattle when in 2012 the Seahawks used a 5th round pick on Toomer out of Idaho. Toomer has appears in 8 career games with the Cowboys (1) and Rams (7) exclusively on special teams.
